Florida’s original Statewide ITS Architecture (SITSA), developed in January 2001, was created as a framework to guide statewide ITS deployment. The SITSA consisted of seven regional ITS architectures, which corresponded with the eight FDOT Districts (District 4 and 6 were combined). Additionally, a statewide ITS architecture layer was developed which encompassed ITS services that were uniform across the state, including commercial vehicle operations (CVO) safety and administrative services, as well as statewide reporting functions.
Since its original development in 2001, much progress has been made that has created a need to update the SITSA. This project is to provide this update for consistency with 23 CFR Parts 655 and 940, and to comply with and incorporate services from the latest version of the National ITS Architecture (NITSA), ITS standards, and the State of Florida's and FDOT's statewide ITS requirements. This will also include the combination and harmonization of existing Statewide, District, Corridor, and other Florida Regional ITS Architectures into a single ITS architecture model, with regional architectures for each of the FDOT Districts, specified corridors, and statewide-specific ITS subsystems.
