The FDOT Public Transportation Office's (PTO's) Resource for Advanced Public Transportation Systems (RAPTS) program offers technical assistance to 26 transit agencies throughout Florida with the support being broken down into two parts:
- Planning; and
- Engineering Services.
The purpose of this project is to provide technical engineering support on an as-needed basis by guiding, advising, assessing, and recommending alternative solutions to the transit agencies served by the RAPTS program. Types of deployments where engineering support may be provided include the following:
- Computer aided dispatch systems;
- Automatic vehicle location systems;
- Radio and communications networks;
- Traffic signal priority systems;
- Customer information systems;
- Fare and payment systems;
- Databases and business processes;
- Automated passenger counting systems;
- Security and surveillance systems; and
- Data collection, processing, and maintenance.
