The exhibit will utilize a sophisticated Power Point presentation to tell the story of Florida's ITS past, present and future. Displays will highlight important aspects of Florida's ITS program. ITS and NASA images will be used in the theme to emphasize the technology transfer from the space program to ITS. The NASA systems engineering tie-in will be incorporated into other aspects of the booth, which will include a drawing for a NASA flight jacket (courtesy of ITS Florida), give-aways, a display explaining ITS technologies that resulted from the Space Program and a model of the International Space Station hung over the booth.
"We have a great booth location by the entrance of the convention center exhibition hall and we hope everyone will stop to visit us," Chandler said. This marks the third year that the FDOT ITS Office has exhibited at ITS Americas Annual Meeting and Exposition. Last year, Florida co-hosted the meeting and exposition in Miami Beach, and in 2000, Florida participated in Boston. ITS Corridor Master Plans and ITS Program Plan
The ITS Office has been active in the development of ITS Master Plans for the five principal FIHS limited-access corridors (I-4, I-10, I-75, I-95 and Florida's Turnpike). These plans coordinate ITS deployments developed by the Districts to promote effective ITS deployment on a corridor and statewide basis. These corridor master plans, along with ITS needs identified by our partner expressways, form the basis of the ITS Program Plan. The ITS Corridor Master Plan and ITS Program Plan revised project schedule includes a final Steering Committee Meeting during April 2002 and a project completion date of May 2002. Information about on-going work in support of the ITS Corridor Master Plans and ITS Program Plan is available on the project website at http://www.FloridaITS.com.
A Communications Plan for the ITS Master Plans has recently been completed and is available for review on the project website. This plan explores the various communication backbone alternatives available to support the statewide ITS deployments identified in the ITS Master Plans. The primary focus of the Communications Plan is on the

installation of a fiber optic network. A discussion regarding the feasibility of implementing the fiber optic network is included, which addresses schedule, costs, benefits, and impacts associated with installation, lighting and maintenance of the fiber optic network.
Corridor Implementation Plans were prepared for the five principal FIHS corridors. These plans review existing and planned ITS deployments along the facilities as developed by the Districts, identify functional gaps, and recommend new deployments to create a coordinated, statewide freeway management system. The plans also present phased implementation of each deployment project and estimate cost and benefits associated with each ITS project. These Corridor Implementation Plans will be integrated to develop a statewide ITS Needs Plan, which will be further refined to develop a cost feasible ITS Program Plan for the years 2002 to 2012. These plans will be presented for discussion at the project Steering Committee Meeting scheduled for February 25, 2002 in Orlando. For additional information regarding this program, please contact Mr. Gene Glotzbach at the FDOT ITS Office in Tallahassee, (850) 410-5616. * * * *
