ATIS Project Support—Jacksonville & Southwest Florida
Home Projects Newsletters Library Contacts

This project is to assist FDOT in establishing advanced traveler information systems (ATIS) in the Jacksonville metropolitan area and the Southwest Florida region. Both of these services are programmed for fiscal year 2006.

Via iFlorida, the Surface Transportation Security and Reliability Information System Model Deployment grant from FHWA, FDOT will launch a statewide 511 service and a statewide Internet Web site. While iFlorida will provide services in Jacksonville and Southwest Florida, the amount, quality, and timeliness of the information will not be at the same level as that provided by other major metropolitan areas in Florida. This project will focus on improving the quality of information available to these two areas.

This project will assist Districts 1 and 2 in finalizing the project concepts, integrating the projects with iFlorida, procuring the required systems and services to generate the information content necessary to support traveler information services, and developing plans for marketing and operating the services.
